Different types of hotel furniture use different surface materials. For example, the legs of tables, chairs, and cabinets should be made of hardwood, which is sturdy and can bear weight, while other materials can be used for the interior. Wardrobe legs should be at least 2.5cm thick; too thick and they look bulky, too thin and they are prone to bending and warping. Kitchen and bathroom cabinets cannot be made of fiberboard; they should be made of plywood instead, because fiberboard swells and is damaged when exposed to water. Dining tables should be water-resistant.

Moisture Content

The moisture content of hotel furniture should not exceed 12%. High moisture content will cause the wood to warp and deform. Since most consumers don't have testing equipment, they can use their hands to feel the unpainted areas on the bottom or inside of the furniture. If it feels damp, the moisture content is at least 50% and it's unusable. Another method is to sprinkle a little water on an unpainted area of the wood; if the water soaks in slowly or not at all, the moisture content is high.

Furniture Structure
For small hotel furniture items, such as chairs, stools, and coat racks, you can drag them on a cement floor or gently drop them. A crisp sound indicates good quality; a dull sound or crackling noises suggest loose joints and an unsturdy structure. For desks and tables, shake them to check their stability. Sit on sofas; if they creak and wobble easily, they are poorly constructed and won't last long.

Flat Corners

This can be easily checked by placing the furniture on a flat surface and shaking it. Some hotel furniture only has three legs touching the ground. Check if the tabletop is flat and level; it shouldn't be hunched or sagging. A convex tabletop will cause a glass plate to spin; a concave tabletop will cause a glass plate to shatter under pressure. Pay attention to cabinet doors and drawers; the gaps between them should not be too large, and the doors should be straight and level, without sagging.

Veneer Joints

Whether applying wood veneer, PVC, or pre-painted paper, pay attention to whether the veneer is applied smoothly, without bulges, bubbles, or loose joints.

Inspect against the light; these defects are not visible without it. Ash veneer hotel furniture is relatively fragile and generally only lasts two years. Generally speaking, sliced veneer is better than rotary-cut veneer.
